My Lifes if My Message

So much happened during our stay in Parthi. We still have a hard time understanding how the two weeks passed so quickly. We were part of a group of twenty from New York. Swami called the group for a few interviews and gave us all time to ask spiritual as well as personal questions. It will take us a while to recap, understand and digest our experiences with Swami, but here are some cherished moments with Swami on the topic of the Sai Young Adult Newsletter (SYAN).

I had the Summer 2001 issue of SYAN on my lap and was seated toward the back of the interview room. Swami spotted the Newsletter and said, "What is this?" And He called me forward. I came forward, knelt down and offered the newsletter to Swami saying, "Swami, the newsletter team would like to offer this newsletter to you."
Swami said, "What?"
I rephrased my response, "Swami, the Sai Young Adult Newsletter Team would like to offer the Summer 2001 newsletter to you."

Swami accepted the newsletter and placed it on His lap and said, "Very happy." Swami appeared very pleased with the newsletter.
Then I asked, "Swami, the SYAN team wants your blessing." Swami said lovingly, "Yes, Yes!" I then said, "Swami from this issue on, we are going to be doing mass printing and free mailing of the newsletter." Swami said in astonishment and to everyone's amusement, "Three Million!"
I clarified, "No Swami, free distribution." Swami said, "Yes, very good."

Later in the interview, we wanted Swami to write a message for the birthday issue. I asked, "Swami, please write a message for the birthday issue of SYAN."

Swami took my journal and held it for quite some time. He spoke with me about some family and other matters. He browsed through my journal, read a few entries and then remarked "Onam" -- "You took notes ... good". I had indeed taken notes during the Onam discourse. But Swami returned the journal without writing any message and I did not insist.

In the following interview, I held the SYAN letterhead on my lap for Swami to write a message. Swami spotted the SYAN letterhead and said -- "What is this?"

I said, "Swami please give a message for the Sai Young Adult Newsletter." Swami said, " I am not giving any message [anymore]. My life is my message!"

It is true we have volumes of His discourses and writings as well as personal experiences to reflect and to follow. Above all, we have the example of Swami's life.

May Swami continue to guide us in serving all by spreading His love and teachings. Most importantly, may we be transformed by following His message, in our lives.
