Our
Peace
In an instant
In an hour
In a day
Events unfold chaos emerges and peace ceases.
Disorder and mayhem
A world of smoke and flame
A world of wails of grief
Hard to believe and hard to speak
Hard to see through it all,
But as Gandhi said, "...
In the midst of death life persist,
In the midst of untruth truth persists,
In the midst of darkness light persists"
I add in the midst of hatred love persists.
May we not waiver in our belief
That good shall fall at last that love will be regained.
In an instant
In an hour
In a day Events unfold chaos emerges and peace ceases,
But the world keeps spinning
And babes are being born
And somewhere children are playing
And somewhere the sun still shines.
In an instant
In an hour
In a day
Events unfold
Chaos emerges and peace ceases,
But return it will
Unless we let our sorrow to
Seek out the wings of hate,
Allow injustice to mark our faces,
As we search for answers,
As we search for someone to pay,
For what has been lost.
But it is only hidden in the smoke
And when it clears the time will come again
When we walk in love and hope
And regain our peace and faith. |
