July 27th - August 5th 2001

To: All National Coordinators, Youth Coordinators and contact persons in Europe

From: Organizing Team of European Sathya Sai Youth Camp

CC: Central Coordinators (Pietro Marena, Thorbjörn Meyer, Steen Piculell)

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Sai!

We are very happy to announce that the European Sathya Sai Summer Camp will take place in Slovenia, from July 27th (day of arrival) to August 5th (day of departure)!

This is a first letter to quickly spread the news. More detailed information will follow soon together with application forms etc.

A) Place

The name of the city is Dolenjske Toplice (situated near Novo Mesto in lower Slovenia). The place itself is called Tabor Mladih (The Youth Camp). At the end of this letter you find a description and a photograph of the beautiful site.

B) Motto

The motto of the camp is "Sai Youth - Shining in Unity" and was created by youths from Spain. It expresses the idea that youths from all of Europe will come together, with each country and each youth contributing an individual petal to the flower of the camp which will then shine in beauty and unity.

C) Goals

To provide the youths with an opportunity to spend a useful time together, to experience spirituality in joy and sincerity and to enjoy the exchange and inspiration they can provide to each other.

To foster open-mindedness, tolerance and understanding for our brothers and sisters in other countries and enhance the understanding of the underlying unity in diversity.

To enhance the individual participant's realisation of the Unity and Love immanent in all.

To help the youths to realize their inner shining character and divine nature and live accordingly.

To inspire youth programs in all countries.

D) Contents

Topics will be related to daily spirituality and can include all questions/contents that are relevant to today's youth. They can be dealt with in workshops, seminars, cultural activities, service, adventure, sports, nature, singing/meditation/prayer, arts, lectures, etc. As much of the program will be prepared by the participants themselves, it will reflect and suit the energy and needs of the youth. The focus is on practical spirituality where all activities are experienced as creative and joyous.

E) Participants

All youths between 14-19 years are welcome. Although the camp is meant for Europe, youths from other countries are also welcome. As the camp will be a spiritual camp in the name of Sai, we expect the participants to understand and accept Sai's teachings and the resulting rules of conduct as being the foundation of the camp.

Young adults (20-30 years) are also welcome to apply - and needed! Being close to the age group of the youths, it is their task to accompany the youths and help with the operation of the camp (e.g. leading/assisting in activities, serve as contact persons for the youths and help where help is needed). Therefore priority should be given to young adults who are experienced in working with youths - and willing to serve.

Also a few adult SSE-teachers are welcome to assist with their valuable experience. The ratio of 10 youths/5 young adults/2 adults may serve as a guideline.

F) National Contribution

Every country and, in fact, every participant can help in making the camp a reality. The work needs to be shared by many - this will make the camp an expression of many devoted hearts, hands and heads and make the motto come true. Soon you will receive information about how you can contribute, and for your information we can already announce that every country will be asked to contribute at least one workshop and a cultural presentation.

G) Cost

The costs for the camp have not been calculated yet, but they will be around 150 Euro.

Om Sai Ram!

Please share this information with all groups and centres and especially all youths and families in your country! As people are planning their summer vacation, please do so as soon as possible. For any further questions feel free to visit www.youthmeeting.de or write us!

Thank you for your cooperation, with Love and Light in Sai!

Tabor Mladih Description of Tabor Mladih

"The site is named Dolenjske Toplice. It is a spa complex (thermal springs), placed in a wonderful, quiet natural surroundings of Lower Slovenia. The complex of bungalows is made to accommodate 200 to 250 people. (i.e. all of the 250 devotees will have their own bed). Actual name of the place is Tabor Mladih or The Youth Camp. The Sai Centre of Slovenia already has permission

for the use of all facilities on the grounds and also the use of the school building, which, altogether, offers really more than enough space for all the activities of the Summer Camp. Everything is already there: kitchen, showers, toilets, school gym, classrooms for multimedia presentations (workshops), and also a natural amphitheatre - a fine place for bhajan sessions."
